Around the world today, scholars are attacked because of their words, their ideas and their place in society. Those seeking power and control work to limit access to information and new ideas by targeting scholars, restricting academic freedom and repressing research, publication, teaching and learning. Recommendations and Components

Sight Design worked closely with NYU/SAR administrators to create a web site that is approachable by both scholars and university administrators. Key components were the development, of the scholar database, member system, content editing system and robust back-end administration system.

1. The existing web site was redesigned with attention given to the various types of users/roles refined
2. Sight Design rewrote, normalized and expanded the various databases used by SAR
3. A query and report engine allows administrators to pull specific subsets of data
4. Administrators are able to publish chosen records for searching and viewing at the web site, controlling what parts of a resource record may be seen live
5. A robust content editing system and back-end administration toolset was developed
